"In the UK, Domino's has launched what it's calling Pizza Box Office, an initiative giving online pizza orderers their choice of complementary movie streamed to PC, Mac or tablet (release). The initiative is designed to incentivise ecommerce orders and illustrates how digital movies, like music tracks before them, can now be used as the auxiliary content of wider marketing campaigns."

Lionsgate To Sponsor $20K Starcraft 2 Tournament In Support Of Ender's Game Hitting Blu... - 2 views

"Essentially, Lionsgate wants to ensure that people interested in its film - which had a disappointing box office return - know that it is coming out on Blu-Ray. And so the studio is investing a sum into sponsoring a Starcraft 2 tournament, which will be watched by tens of thousands of individuals interested in futuristic combat, and who are often young and male. Ender's Game, naturally, features a young male winning weightless combat in the future."

Amazon in-store pickup - weird - 0 views

  •
Amazon is taking a direct shot at the U.S. Post Office by launching their in-real-life locker box service as a delivery portal for the crap people buy on Amazon.com. They launched in Seattle in 7-Eleven stores, and have recently been spotted in Rite Aide and Gristedes in New York. This isn't an entirely new idea, as Best Buy and Walmart already allow in-store pick-ups of online purchases, but it finally solves the problem of where we can get out Twilight Saga books delivered without having to explain it to our roommates.

"The stats from Crowdtap show that users trust their friends (73 percent) more than movie critics (27 percent) such as Gene Siskel or Roger Ebert. People are also four times more likely to like a movie's Facebook page than to follow its Twitter account. More movie-goers also turn to Facebook to give their first review, rather than texting or calling friends after the movie."

Includes interesting chart showing decline in portion of box office sales coming from 3D films, since late last year. Don't think it's a legit trend though: - Not enough data - Avatar had shitloads of hype - Many factors not equal across data points
